All manuscripts must
be submitted to
For All
Manuscripts:
As approved by the EMBS Publications Committee, all submissions of new manuscripts
must be in IEEE format. This format is for double column, single spaced text with embedded figures and tables - the format required of final printed copy. The major reasons behind the change are: 1. authors submitting manuscripts that are too long. 2. authors not realizing that their manuscripts will encounter significant
page charges. 3. reviewers preferring not to print long documents for review.
Look for "Templates for all Transactions" at this URL:
http://www.ieee.org/publications_standards/publications/authors/authors_journals.html
While this does not apply to revisions of currently submitted manuscripts, we strongly suggest that the revisions also be submitted in the IEEE format.
This new directive supercedes any other instructions on formatting in this document.
Also note:
- 7 pages or fewer: only voluntary page charges ($110/page)
- 8-10 pages: mandatory page charges ($250/page over 7)
- >10 pages: requires special permission from Editor in Chief
- The manuscript, including figures, tables, and
references, should not exceed the page limits specified above.
- Manuscripts, including text, references,
figures, and tables, should be combined and converted to a single PDF
file for upload to Manuscript Central.
- The abstract must be no longer than 200 words.
- References are particularly important in Review
papers and will themselves be subject to review. Authors should attempt
do to an exhaustive search of the literature, and the norm will be to
have a reference list of over 100 papers. The references should appear
in a separate reference section at the end of the manuscript text, with
items referred by numerals in square brackets. References must be
completed in the IEEE style as follows:
- Papers: Author(s), first initials followed
by last
name, title, periodical, volume, inclusive page numbers, month, year.
- Books: Author(s), title, location,
publisher, year, chapter, page
numbers.
