Information-Theoretic Approach and Fundamental Limits of Resolving Two Closely-Timed Neuronal Spikes in Mouse Brain Calcium Imaging
We perform theoretical performance limits analysis for the problem of resolving temporally overlapping fluorescence waveforms in calcium imaging. We quantify the resolution and the theoretical bound on the precision of estimating the inter-spike-interval (ISI) from the statistical and information-theoretic point-of-views, respectively.
